What are the Different Types of Labels and What are There Uses?

Posted by : Mercury Labels Ltd on Friday, February 24, 2023 in Printed Labels.

Labels are used to provide information, categorize items,
and identify products. They come in various forms, materials, shapes, and
sizes. Here are the different types of labels and their uses:

Pressure-Sensitive
Labels
: These are the most common type of labels and are made with an
adhesive backing. They can be easily applied to any smooth surface and come in
a variety of shapes, sizes, and materials. These labels are used for product
labelling, warning labels, and promotional labelling.

Heat Transfer Labels:
These labels are applied by using heat and pressure. The design is printed onto
a special material, which is then transferred to the product. Heat transfer
labels are often used for clothing and fabric labelling, as they are durable
and can withstand washing and drying.

In-Mold Labels:
In-mold labels are created by injecting melted plastic into a mold, which is
then stamped with the label design. The label becomes a permanent part of the
product, making it ideal for labelling items that are frequently handled or
exposed to harsh conditions.

Roll Labels: Roll
labels are produced on a roll and can be dispensed using a label dispenser or
manually. They are often used for labelling a large number of products quickly
and efficiently. Roll labels are popular for product labelling, promotional
labelling, and shipping labels.

Hangtags:
Hangtags are labels that are attached to products using a string or a piece of
paper. They provide information about the product and can also be used for
promotional purposes. Hangtags are commonly used in the fashion industry for
clothing and accessory labelling.

QR Codes: QR codes are a type of label that can be scanned
using a smartphone to access information about a product or service. QR codes
are often used for marketing and promotional purposes, as they allow customers
to access information quickly and easily.

Barcodes: Barcodes are labels that contain a series of lines
and spaces that can be scanned to retrieve information about a product.
Barcodes are widely used in retail and manufacturing industries, as they make
it easier to track inventory and manage products.

RFID Labels: RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) labels
are a type of label that contains a microchip and antenna. They can be scanned
using an RFID reader to retrieve information about a product. RFID labels are
used in a variety of industries, including retail, logistics, and healthcare,
as they make it easier to track products and manage inventory.

In conclusion, labels are an important aspect of product
labelling and provide important information about the product, such as its
contents, usage instructions, and warning information. The type of label used
depends on the specific needs of the product and the industry it is being used
in. Labels play a crucial role in product identification and help to ensure
that products are used safely and effectively.
